What We Believe
(Our Statement of Faith)
In essential beliefs — we have unity.
“There is one Body and one Spirit...there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all...”  Eph. 4:4-6

In non-essential beliefs — we have freedom.
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters...  Who are you to judge someone else’s servant?  To his own master he stands or falls...  So then each of us will give an account of himself to God...  So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.”  Romans 14:1,4,12,22

Things We Do & Why
Worship
Worship is an expression of our hearts to our Heavenly Father. We believe that spending time in the presence of God in a worship setting is vital for our personal walk with the Lord. We love the Lord with all our hearts and worship is a reflection of that. We raise our hands to heaven to express to our Heavenly Father how much we love Him, need Him and want to give our lives to Him. We clap to celebrate what God has done in our lives and we sing our praises to the Lord with our voices. Romans 11:36-12:1-2, Matt. 4:10, Jn. 4:23-24

NEW HORIZONS Worship Style

“Celebration”
Psalm 122:1

“Inspiration”
Isaiah 40:31

“Preparation”
Eph. 4:11-12

Prayer
Prayer is one of the most important parts of our relationship with the Lord. Prayer links us directly to God and also helps us within our relationship with others. At New Horizons Church we incorporate prayer within our service & pray together each week. We also have a prayer room available during service for those in need of specific prayer. We believe that prayer leads us directly into the presence our God. There is nothing to big or small for God and nothing He can’t handle. We believe that everything should be brought to the Father through prayer. Ephesians 6:10-20 and 1 Timothy 2:1-6

NEW HORIZONS Prayer Lifestyle

“Communication”
Psalm 95:6
Philippians 4:6

“Intercession”
James 5:13a, 17,18
Isaiah 56:7

“Spiritual Warfare”
Psalm 149:6
Joshua 1:3

Baptism
New Horizons Church believes that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work. Every believer that has accepted Christ as their personal Savior should participate in baptism because Christ commanded it (Matt. 28:19) and modeled it (Mark 1:9-11).

Communion
Communion is a practice that is meant to be observed over and over throughout the life of a Christian. It is a holy time of worship when we corporately come together as one body to remember and celebrate what Christ did for us on the cross. Communion represents the body and blood that Jesus shed on the cross for all of us. Because of His sacrifice we are forgiven of our sins and washed clean. We take communion in remembrance and reflection of all that Jesus has done for us. You do not have to be a member of New Horizons Church to take communion but you do need to know Jesus as your personal Savior. (1 Corinthians 11:24)

The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit / Spirit-Led and Spirit-Filled Living
New Horizons believes that the Holy Spirit has gifts to give us and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life. (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22)

(Jesus said), “I am the Vine, you are the branches.  If you abide in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; but apart from me you can do nothing.”  John 15:5

“ . . .Be filled with the Holy Spirit . . .” (Eph 5:18b)

We believe the only way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us.  So we seek to practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right and to walk in God’s power. (Phil. 2:13)

Evangelism
It is the responsibility of every Christian to share the Good News with those with whom God brings us into contact.  We practice personal sharing about Christ and inviting friends to our church.

“His intent was that through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known...”  Eph. 3:10

“Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  But who can ask Him to save them unless they believe in Him?  And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him?  And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells him?”  Rom. 10:13-14 (LB)

“God’s kindness leads you toward repentance . . .” Romans 2:4a

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
1 Peter 3:15

Tithes and Offerings
At New Horizons we practice tithing for the support of Christ’s body, the church, as God commands.  We recognize that giving 10% of our income is the Biblical standard of giving.

“A tithe of everything you produce belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.”  Lev. 26:30
